Halloween and a feathered friend

I drew this for Willowing's monthly art challenge, "Animal friends".  I guess I wasn't thinking outside the box, 'cause before the month started, I assumed (shouldn't ever do that!) that this month's challenge would be halloween themed.  = )

I liked drawing my witch and her friend so much, that I started another.  I'm hoping to have them done before Halloween, but there's never any guarantees with my free time, lol.

Doodling

I really feel like I should be getting more art-ing done, but I just can't figure out where the time goes!  Even something as small as this flower girl takes me a few days to finish.

I am amazed by some of the blogs I follow...people who can get several pieces done in a day...who woulda thunk?!  Someday....

Get your art on, day 4 and 5

Mmmm, well I'm not sure if I'm supposed to work on something different everyday, but I've been working on this for the past few days so it is going to count as my day 4 and 5. =)  Considering my limited time, I am rather happy that I've finished this!

Having today off work really helped.  Of course, it also tends to spoil me--I told my hubby that I'd like to go in to work tomorrow with 2-week notice in hand, lol.  yeah....I don't think he's going for it.

New school year!

Ah....finally the first day of school is here!  Well, for part of my brood, anyways.  My youngest is still in elementary and started back today.  My daughter, who is the middle child, doesn't officially start until tomorrow but is an 8th grade peer leader so she had to be at school for a few hours to help out the incoming 7th graders.  (our middle school is only 7th and 8th grade...kinda strange for those of us who grew up with middle schools that included 6th grade as well).  My oldest is now a junior in high school.  (holy cow where did the time go?  I still remember crying on his first day of kindergarten.)  So as an upperclassmen he doesn't have to start until tomorrow either. (which he is VERY happy about)

I took the day off work so that I could run kids around on the first day, meet the teacher, etc...it almost feels like it used to before I went back to work.  I miss those days--having the time to volunteer in the kids classes, being in the PTA, actually getting to know my kids' teachers. (what a concept)  Even though it means readjusting our schedule again to account for homework and after-school activities, I am glad everyone is back in school, keeping busy.

Get your art on, day 3

And I am going to count my pictures as my artistic venture for the day...they certainly caused as much, if not more, anxiety as any of my drawings or paintings would!  = )
